Safety Trading Card 2005 Project

We would like to take this opportunity to let you know about our  new Fire/EMS/Police safety trading card project we are continuing in 2005.  Children have long collected trading cards of their favorite heroes.  They organize their cards in binders, trade cards, read cards, and never seem to throw them away.  Our goal is to capitalize on kids' fascination with cards to get our safety messages across, and reinforce our current community programs.  We hope you will want to be one of our sponsors for this fun and special project.

The fire department would like to create a set of 30 (but we will do more if interest is there) Fire/EMS/Police safety trading cards that will feature firefighters, emergency medical personnel, police, and our equipment.  The card back features a short bio of the pictured front and a safety message.  The bottom of the card includes your sponsorship information or logo.  That means that your logo would reach thousands of homes in the
Kanawha Valley and show your concern for children's safety.

These cards are targeted to elementary age children and would be given out by the
Charleston firefighters and police officers at Safety City and other community events.  We will produce 2,000 cards each of the 30 different cards. We would greatly appreciate any help you provide us in underwriting the cost of this project, be it one card or more. As mentioned before, there is also a place on the card to include your logo or sponsorship information.

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this project.  Please feel free to contact us by e-mail or phone (304) 348-8098.

Sincerely,

Captain, Robert Sharp,

Smoke Detector Give Away Program

With the help of grants From LOWES HOME IMPROVEMENT WAREHOUSE, and STATE FARM INSURANCE, The Charleston Fire Department will be conducting a smoke detector give away. The aim of this program is to reduce the chances of our citizens becoming a statistic of fire deaths. With children under 5 and seniors over 65 being at highest risk, these are the households we are trying most to reach with this program, but any households not having a detector are welcome to stop by for these detectors as long as they last. Just stop by our Main Administrative Office at 808 Virginia St. West, fill out a short survey and be on your way. If you are unable to install your own, arrangements can be made to assist you.
